Gianclaudio Oliva, Building, Infrastructure and Rail Global Market Director for Bureau Veritas.
He has more than 15 years of relevant experience in engineering and consultancy sector, with strong academic and work experience in business development, project management, PPP, strategic and spatial planning, analysis of infrastructure system, monitoring of public interventions or private investments, evaluation of demand for transportation sector, and analysis of infrastructure capacities. He graduated at the University of Naples (“Federico II di Napoli”) where he obtained Master degree in Management Engineering. After graduation he worked for ITAI Engineering and Construction Corporation in Taiwan, a company involved in Taiwan High Speed Rail Project, After the experience in Taiwan, he joined PriceWaterhouseCoopers Italy – infrastructure and transportation group in 2005. Working for PwC from 2005 until 2007 he was involved in several projects, such as: the first step of Cost Benefit Analysis for Messina Bridge project (SdM), ERIM-European Railway Infrastructure Master Plan (UIC – International Union of Railway), Implementation Report on TEN-T Guidelines (DGTREN -Directorate General For Energy And Transport, European Commission), Several Transport Impact Assessment for DGTREN and in Reviewing and modelling the Italian railway infrastructure charge system (RFI – Italian Railway Infrastructure Manager), and Apulia Airport Network Development.
In SGI from 2017 to 2011, he has been involved in several consultancy projects mainly for the Ministry Municipality for Municipality and Public Work of IRAQ, such as, Master Plan for the Iraqi cities of Hindiya, Mussayab and Qasem, Sadt Al Hindiya and Mahaweel, Master Plan of Babil Province and the Structure Plan for Al Muthanna Governorate.
In 2011 he joined SPEA, where he was in charge for the development of the international department – mainly focus to IFIs project in transport infrastructure. Among the others he gained a wide experience in Africa being involved in the following projects:
Now in Bureau VERITAS is responsible for the global development of the Building, Infrastructure and Rail business. This unit now accounts for BV 1 Billion Euro revenue and more than 20000 employees.
He have also performed a PhD course in “in Recovery Engineering – Urban/Regional Planning” (Key topic of research: “Innovative planning Strategy at urban level for rail and maritime transport infrastructure” Case Study: The City of Messina”) .
